MPI-SP Netiquette

Welcome to the Zulip server of MPI-SP. The purpose of this Zulip instance is to serve as the digital platform for professional and social interactions at the institute. We would ask that you follow the rules listed below when using this platform.

  • No hate speech.
  • Be respectful. Uphold professionalism in all your online interactions. If you wouldn’t say it directly, don’t use those words online either, especially when involved in an argument or a debate.
  • Be kind. No attacks on another person. Criticism can be formulated in a polite way and should not contain aggressive/insulting language or name-calling.
  • Respect the privacy of others. Do not post pictures or videos of people without their explicit consent. Do not take screenshots of their messages. Do not distribute any contents of the chats to other platforms without obtaining prior approval.
  • Don’t spam. Think about sending a direct message to the parties involved, rather than to a general list.
  • Do not share anything illegal, inappropriate or embarrassing. The internet never forgets.
  • Don’t abuse your power. Exercise discretion when adding new members to the platform. Only add people who are relevant to the ongoing discussion and activities.
  • We ask that you refrain from discussions on politics, religion or sharing ideological content on this platform. We aim to provide a neutral environment suitable for productive teamwork.
  • Please use your full name as your username.

Using a positive tone and empathy in our digital interactions fosters an inclusive and respectful online environment and makes online interactions more productive and pleasant. We thank you for following these rules when using our platform.
